“Healthy Oils and Nutrition Labels”- Mary Evenson at Cafe Inquiry
PUBLIC LECTURE, July 20th, 7pm CENTER FOR INQUIRY, DOWNTOWN INDIANAPOLIS
CINSO and the Center for Inquiry of Indiana co-host the monthly lecture series “Cafe Inquiry.”
Food gives our bodies essential nutrients we need. Part of our diet must include fats. Are all fats bad? No! We need some fats in our diet because they are one of our main sources of energy and help us absorb other nutrients from the foods we eat. Mary will use a modified version of an interactive demonstration from the DowAgro Science Ambassadors to inform us about healthy oils from seeds and current work at Dow to improve nutrition.
Ms. Mary D. Evenson, Senior Analytical Chemist, received her degree from Illinois State University (B.S. Chemistry). Mary is currently working for Dow Agro Sciences. She was working in the Healthy Oils application group over the past 6 years and is currently working on Crop Protection Products. She enjoys studying Lipids and the endless ways to measure and evaluate them.
She is passionate about hunger (food insecurity) related issues and highly values working on products that promote health and wellness. Her other passions are family, community and church. In her spare time she likes to hike, bike, garden and enjoy nature.
