Balloon Engineering Workshop for kids at Conner Prairie, Sat 24th
BALLOON ENGINEERING WORKSHOP AT CONNER PRAIRIE, SATURDAY APRIL 25th, 9:30a-12p
“Join in an interactive workshop to introduce Conner Kids, age 8-12, to Balloon Engineering.
What child isn’t mesmerized by a huge, colorful balloon floating through the sky? Balloons are one of the oldest man-made forms of airborne transportation. The first balloons were designed in France in 1783 and actually transported animals before it carried 1-2 passengers over a short distance using nothing but gravity and upward air movement.
In this workshop children will be introduced to engineering concepts as they design their very own balloons! Students will use the principles of buoyancy to investigate why objects flow, design a neutrally blimp that can carry passengers and move with air currents, experiment with how to create different air currents, and harness the power of air currents to control their blimp.
Parents may stay for the fun or drop off children (with a signed waiver form from Conner Prairie).”
