Calling all rock hounds, fossil hunters, jewelers, scouts and families!
Indiana State Museum’s GeoFest slated for February 21, 22 and 23

INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana State Museum will host its annual fossil, gem and mineral show GeoFest on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 21 and 22 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 23 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will take place on all three levels of the museum, located 650 W. Washington Street in downtown Indianapolis.

GeoFest, presented by Indianapolis-based Irving Materials, Inc. (IMI), will feature some of today’s leading geology experts with vendors coming from throughout the country showcasing their items as attendees enjoy hands-on geology activities and a chance to win geo-prizes. Hands-on activities include making your own geode, identifying fossils and non-fossils, seeing fluorescing minerals and discovering how rocks and minerals are used in everyday life.

GeoFest still maintains its classic show of exhibitors displaying amazing cut stones, jewelry, Ice Age fossils and raw crystals from all over the world and available for sale,” said Manager of Public Programs Carrie Miller. “Many attendees this year will be encouraged to indulge their inner scientist at the geo-themed activity stations.”
